As a result of legislative updates BC Nurse Practitioners can now complete Driver Medical Exam Reports (DMER) for their patients.
Like their physician colleagues, NPs who work in publicly funded Health Authority clinics do not charge privately for their patient’s medical examinations. There may be fees associated for DMER examinations in privately funded clinics.
New DMER forms have been developed to include NP signature, but these will not be released until the current forms have been used up. In the mean time NPs will need to identify their title and strike our “Physician” in the signature line of existing DMER forms.
